EVGA, as many may know since this is its famous marketing line, is the biggest seller of Nvidia cards across the whole of North America and so when EVGA launches a couple of new cards it makes pretty big news. EVGA is launching two new Classified ‘Ultra’ cards which take the GTX 580’s clock speeds to new highs. Previous GTX 580 Classified cards topped out at clock speeds of 855/1710/4212 MHz whilst the new Ultra editions have clock speeds of 900/1800/4212 MHz. In addition to the higher clock speeds there isn’t much change in terms of the core specifications and features:
“512 CUDA Cores, a 384-bit memory interface, 3 GB of GDDR5 memory, 4-way SLI and EVBot support, a custom PCB, a 14+3 phase power design, one NEC Proadlizer, Super Low ESR SP-Cap capacitors, and high frequency 3MHz shielded inductors. ”
There are two models as mentioned one is a air cooled GTX 580 classified Ultra and the other model is a GTX 580 classified Ultra pre-fitted with a Swiftech water block for a liquid cooling set up. The air cooled version retails at $619.99 whilst the liquid cooled version retails at $749.99. Neither card has started shipping yet but they will be available very soon.
