With the Video Game Awards just around the corner, for the first time in ages, it seems that many developers are going to use the event to make some pretty huge announcements. For example, we already have had a few hints that Dragon Age 4 will likely be revealed. It seems, however, that a fresh rumour has been added to the pile.
In a report via DSOGaming, it is believed that Ubisoft will use the event to officially announce that a new Far Cry game is in development!
Now, I must admit, while I fully expected a new Far Cry to be made, I didn’t expect the announcement to be this soon. I mean, Far Cry 5 only released in March. 9-months between the last game coming out and the announcement of the next certainly seems a little rushed… oh wait, this is Ubisoft. Maybe it does make sense!
We do, of course, have to temper this with the reality that just because a game is announced, it doesn’t mean it’s coming out any time soon. For example, Square Enix announced the Final Fantasy 7 remake 3 years ago. Certainly, haven’t seen much news surrounding that since have we?
In terms of the franchise as well, it’s hard to say what fans will make yet another new release. Many would argue that since the release of Far Cry 3, the franchise has gotten stagnant. Each new release simply recycles the older ideas.
However you feel about it and like it or though, a new one seems to be on the way!
