Ubisoft Issue Apology Over Naked NPC Fail in Watch Dogs 2 as PS4 Users Get Banned

It seems like Ubisoft are in hot water again this week, although I can’t recall a time when they weren’t attracting attention for something they did wrong… but I digress. Ubisoft’s latest apology comes after PlayStation 4 users were issued bans for sharing “graphic” screenshots of naked NPCs, whoops. Some of the users have been banned for up to a month from using their online services on PlayStation.

The issue revolves around some of the NPC models having visible genitals, which isn’t really a big deal for a game that has a mature rating, it’s not like nudity is a new thing, but when it comes to sharing the images on a social platform for all ages, things can get a bit sketchy and really, that’s more on the individual user to have used a little common sense before sharing the images on the network. Even we had the decency to censor the image, although the original was posted here on twitter (obviously NSFW).

“We’re aware that one of the NPC models in Watch Dogs 2 is rendered in a way that is particularly explicit. While Watch Dogs 2 is a mature-rated game, we apologize and will update this NPC model to make it more consistent with other NPC models in the game in a patch to be released this week. We also are working with our first-party partners to ensure that players can continue to play and share all content from the game within the bounds of the first parties’ respective codes of conduct.” said Ubisoft.

In all honesty, I don’t think they should patch a pair of underwear on their character models, it’s not like there is anything wrong with nudity in media and the game is rated to reflect adult content. However, users should use a little more care with the images they share publicly, video game or not, graphic images are graphic images.
