The Android smartphone market is packed with a plethora of different products right now, especially in the mid-range category where Motorola and OnePlus are enjoying great popularity. However, there’s an entirely new player in town that seeks to win over Android fans with its affordable yet relatively powerful smartphones. We’re talking about Wileyfox – a British brand that has recently announced two smartphones named Storm and Swift, both of which are based on the Cyanogen version of Android. Just like OnePlus, this company aims to offer a clean user experience without any bloatware or other unwanted services, which is a strategy that could allow them to win a large fan base in a short amount of time. It’s obvious that Wileyfox has a lot of hard work ahead if it plans to make a name for itself in the highly competitive Android market, but a closer look at its two phones reveals that it might actually stand a chance.
The Storm costs £199 ($315) and comes with a Snapdragon 615 processor, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 32GB of storage space and 3GB of RAM. Its front camera boasts 8 megapixels while its rear one features 20 megapixels, which is definitely decent at this price point.
The Swift is a bit cheaper as it costs £129 ($204). Consequently, it comes with weaker specs such as a Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage space and a 5-inch display that has a lower resolution when compared to the Storm. The cameras were also downgraded a bit, as the front one has just 5 megapixels while the rear one comes with 13 megapixels.
Both of these smartphones will only be available online in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and those of you who want to pre-order them can start doing so this week. The Swift will start shipping in September while Storm will arrive in October.
