UL Benchmarks Unveils the 3DMark Speed Way Benchmark

We do love a good benchmark here at eTeknix, especially since a lot of our work revolves around benchmarking hardware. So, having another tool in the chest is no bad thing! UL has just revealed their latest addition, which is designed for the enthusiast segment of graphics cards. I suppose the last big hitter one they released was Port Royale, so it’s nice to see a new flagship benchmark rolling out. That means the DirectX 12 Ultimate API, real-time ray tracing, mesh shaders, VRS, and much more beyond to push the limits of the latest and greatest hardware, and break the limits of lesser hardware, I’m sure.

DirectX 12 Ultimate features have only been part of the 3DMark API feature tests. Such as the Port Royal benchmark, which was released alongside Nvidia Turing, but even that didn’t actually use the DirectX 12 Ultimate features. So, of course, it’s time to go all-out!

UL Benchmarks hasn’t revealed an exact release date beyond “later this year” but I doubt it’ll be a long wait. I also wouldn’t be overly surprised if the launch coincided with the release of a new flagship graphics card, so they’ve got something to shout about in terms of world records.

So while details are a little scant at the moment, you can be this one will be the flagship benchmark for the next few years. I welcome it too, as while their current benchmarks are great, having watched them hundreds of times over and over and over and over, something new to stare at in the office is certainly welcomed.
