A few years ago, if we wanted to play a good space-based game we probably had to fire up the old Freelancer again, but nowadays we have so many options to choose from. For example, Elite: Dangerous allows us to explore the entire Milky Way galaxy while No Man’s Sky and Space Citizen promise to be just as impressive in their own way. However, apart from these three major titles, there’s another space-based game on the horizon, which is a bit more focused on shooting. Named Everspace, this space-shooter is being developed by indie studio Rockfish, and it is powered by the very impressive Unreal Engine 4.
Therefore, its graphics are bound to be quite breathtaking, especially with PhysX enabled. Rockfish is set to launch a Kickstarter campaign for Everspace in August, and they have already released a pre-alpha gameplay trailer that shows off some of the game’s most important features, including exploration, mining and combat. Moreover, it looks like the developers plan to be very forgiving when it comes to dying in this game, as players will be rewarded and will be able to pick up better gear every time they mess up. You can watch the pre-alpha trailer for Everspace below.
