Upcoming Nexus 9 Detailed: 1440p Screen, 64 Bit Tegra K1 Processor
Ryan Martin / 10 years ago
As of late the future of the Google Nexus line has been called into question, there have been contradictory rumours about future Nexus phones and tablets. However, Android Police think they’re onto something with some details about the upcoming “HTC Volantis” which will be the Google Nexus 9 tablet. This tablet, often referred to as “Flounder”, is an 8.9 inch device with some pretty impressive specifications.
- 8.9″ Display at 2048×1440 (281ppi)
- NVIDIA Logan 64-bit processor (Tegra K1)
- 2GB RAM
- 16/32GB internal storage
- 8MP OIS main camera, 3MP front facing camera
- Aluminum zero-gap construction
- Stereo front-facing speakers
- 8.91″x5.98″x0.31″ body (that’s 22.63×15.19×0.79cm)
- 418g (or 427g with LTE) (that’s 14.74/15.1 ounces)
The tablet is currently being internally referred to as the Nexus 9, but that could be subject to change. Likewise the revealed images are early renderings, and could also be subject to change. If anything these latest leaks go a long way to suggest that the Nexus line is far from finished. Who knows, if the Nexus 9 does really well it might be enough to save HTC’s ailing financial performance.
The Nexus 9 is expected to cost $399 for the 16GB version, 32GB for the $499 and potentially $600+ for an LTE version. As a result pricing is a lot more than the current Nexus 7, but from the specifications it is easy to see that you’re getting more for your money. The source goes on to note that the hardware for this device already exists and some Google employees are already using it.
