UserBenchmark is a bit of a joke in the PC community, partly due to its strange benchmarks that don’t seem to have much basis on anything, and primarily due to its borderline psychotic hatred of AMD which has led to some very humorous reviews from the website. It seems like the owner of the site is trying to shoot itself in the foot as going forward, the site will require users to pay £10 to access its benchmark tool.
This subscription was spotted by ghost_motley on Twitter and shows off a £10 subscription fee to use the benchmark. Now this can be seen as an odd decision due to how other more reliable benchmarks such as 3DMark only require a one time fee rather than a subscription, but seeing as the owner of UserBenchMark is a bit off the rails, this isn’t that surprising.
UserBenchmark is suspected of producing skewed results that favour Intel and it’s easy to see why when you read their various reviews on both Intel and AMD CPUs where they regularly voice their opinions against AMD in a borderline psychotic way. Many reviews include the phrase “Advanced Marketing Scammers” and other variations of the same, it’s quite funny.
Despite it’s poor reviews and complaints from the PC community, the site often remains at the top of the google search results leading the uninitiated to see it as a reliable source thanks to its easy and simple UI. Hopefully this paywall, which nobody in their right mind will pay, should push it back and off the internet where it belongs.
