Valkyrie X12 ARGB 120mm Performance Fans Review

A Closer Look

Valkyrie have a great-looking product here, and from the moment it’s taken out of the box, it’s clear they’re going for a high-quality and premium vibe with their product. Everything is well packaged here, with the fan and all the additional cables neatly stored in the box.

The cables are very nice quality too and come in a white that matches the fans. They have a black version too, if that’s more your style, but it’s good to see the cables and connectors are all matching, as the devil is often in the details.

The motherboard end features a standard 3-in DRGB header and a 4-pin PWM fan connector. However, these are then combined into a single proprietary connector. The cable is quite long but joins up to the fans which have a shorter cable themselves.

As you can see, the proprietary connector cable sticks off the side of the fans but has a male and female connector. This is a clever setup, as it means it becomes a single cable system that can then be daisy-chained, allowing for much neater cable routing and an easier setup overall.

The fan looks stunning, with a white fan in a white surround. The only shifts in colour here are the silver finish on the motor housing, and you can see the brass axle for the fan bearing.

The hardware does look great though, and the design is not unlike that of the Noctua NF-A12x25 (Amazon link, opens in new tab), which is one of the best fans money can buy. However, not that this is a bad thing, but Valkyrie aren’t the only ones who seem to have figured out how to copy their technology, which can be seen in a much larger motor diameter and the exposed pin on the front.

The overall construction looks good at the front, but even more so around the back, with four very robust-looking supports for the motor which should prevent any unwanted flexing and reduce motor vibrations.

There’s also a carved-out rear insert that helps further direct and smooth out the airflow as it passes through the fan, which helps improve the airflow and overall air pressure too.
