Valorant Executive Says Riot “Needs to do Better” about Player Harassment

One of Valorants executives says that “Riot needs to do better” about dealing with harassment in their games. This is following an incident that happened during a prominent Valorant Twitch streamer stream where serious threats of violence were made towards her by another player.

On Monday, May 13th the streamer released a clip from one of her latest streams in which she was threatened with violence by another player in her match. In the clip, she understandably left the game and was given an in-game warning and an experience penalty for leaving the match.

What Riot Had To Say

Unfortunately, things like this are commonplace in games like this as games like Valorant and League of Legends breed toxicity. Following the clip the streamer posted, one of Valorant’s executive producers Anna Donlon took to Twitter to respond with this.

A comment was made on this post about many other people having issues like this “Every time they play” and as someone who does play Valorant, I can say that this is true and the systems in place are not up to the standard they should be. Donlon replies to that comment with “You’re not wrong. We have been taking action and the systems have been improving, but we have a ways to go. We used to share updates on progress and haven’t in a while. We need to do better on both fronts.”
