Valve Reenters Steam Banning Issue Over ‘Adult’ Games
Valve has had more than a few difficulties over the last few years in deciding how it deals with gaming angled more towards the ‘adult’ variety of content. By this, we do, of course, mean the kind of games that show forms of nudity in an explicit sense. It seemed, however, that back in September Valve had finally come to a decision. In brief, everything was permissible, but new filters would have to be specifically chosen to access these types of games.
In a report via PCGamesN, however, it seems that things have taken a fresh new twist. A twist that is certainly difficult, controversial and one that might have a significant impact on the future of certain types of ‘dating’ simulators.
A Question Of Age!
Surprisingly, the issue isn’t over the age of the gamer, but the age of the characters within. With many dating simulators choosing to focus on ‘high-school’ settings, Valve has decided to remove around 6 games which feature characters whose age are certainly a matter of some speculation. Namely, games in which (despite the creator’s denials) that the characters are below legal ages for sexual situations.
This Could Open Up A Whole New Can Of Worms!
While this decision is entirely understandable, it will bring about a number of fresh problems. For example, the vast majority of dating simulators often has a ‘school’ type character. Additionally, who at Valve makes this decision that the characters appear to be underage?
We’re certainly not saying that this isn’t the right decision, but just when the company was looking to make things a lot simpler, this could make things massively more complicated! It is an argument that makes the simplest solution, once again, revert to the online gaming platform simply banning adult games.
