With Intel (well, more specifically their partners) expected to announce the launch of their entry/mid-tier motherboard offerings on January 4th, with a general release reportedly scheduled for the 5th, all going well the arrival of new CPUs and far more affordable motherboards should see consumer access to Alder Lake-S becoming, while certainly not cheap, nowhere near as expensive as it has been to date. Well, unless you really have your heart set on some DDR5 memory. In which case, I hope you have deep pockets.
Following a report via Videocardz, however, just in case you needed a little confirmation that new motherboards were indeed on the way, then a huge leak of over 4 upcoming models from ASUS has just appeared online. And against a lot of prior speculation, this does seem to confirm that we will indeed see H670 releases.
Although likely not representing the very top of the performance tree (which would more obviously be seen with their Z690 offerings), aesthetically speaking, the ASUS ROG STRIX B660-A GAMING WIFI D4 is certainly, or at least in my opinion, the looker of the bunch. Not that any of them are unattractive, but I do find those silver highlights more than a little pleasing to the eye.
With all the above expected to be confirmed on January 4th, however, if you are looking at a more accessible point to enter the world of Alder Lake-S, it seems that, at the very least, ASUS may well have you covered!
