One of the most painful experiences as an adult is having to use a vending machine, 9/10 times the stupid thing gets stuck and you either have to do the walk of shame to the person with the keys or give the machine a naughty shake. Well, the technology has been making the move towards a much larger and more expensive product, namely your potential new car.
Carvana is now setting out to revolutionise the way that we buy and collect our new cars. Instead of the traditional method of going to the dealership and then walking out to your car and drive it home, you can no almost complete the transaction without human contact. You order your car online, drive to a collection point and insert a special token that is encoded and the delivery system picks up your car and pushes it to your feet.
This is by far not the first time this style of delivery system has been implemented and it’s not the largest version either, being beaten to both by Volkswagen HQ in Germany.
I can see the appeal for this style system, remove the sales person and save money. Remove the valet/ parking attendant and all potential human parking error is removed. I honestly don’t see the point of this new system unless there is one in every town and a chauffeur to take you there. You still have to find a way to go collect the car, you still have to wait for the car to become ready, you still have to use your feet dang it!
