Silicon Valley venture capitalist Benedict Evans took to Twitter to poke fun at Apple’s search suggestions for him, very much aware that the tech giant has a strict no-adult-content policy on its iTunes store and go out of their way to keep their platform clean. The problem is that the search suggestions showing up on Evans’ iPhone is actually from Google and as almost everyone knows (except apparently Evans), is auto-generated by priority depending on your browser history.
Evans pointed out in his original and now deleted Tweet critical of Apple, that his search bar was giving him results for adult film actress Evelyn Lin, star of Big Dicks Little Asians 2 as the top suggested result when he typed ‘Evelyn’ in the search bar. Some of Evans’ 193,000 Twitter followers however were quick to point out how Google’s search engines really work, but Evans was insistent that his browsing history is clean, claiming he was searching for Evelyn Waugh, author of Brideshead Revisited at an earlier time that is why it was suggesting a similar imdb.com result.
Evans has since deleted the original Tweet citing that it is not worth arguing with people on Twitter over. Evelyn Lin on the other hand, is enjoying her increased social media presence and acknowledged his most popular fan…even if he won’t admit to it.
