Vertex 460 SSD Series Announced By OCZ

OCZ has announced its new SSD series, the Vertex 460 SATA III SSD. As part of the renowned Vertex series, Vertex 460 is said to continues the legacy by delivering an exceptional mainstream solution with advanced storage performance, reliability, and quality.

The Vertex 460 series is said to be an improved version of the 20 nm Vertex 450 series, having used OCZ’s Barefoot 3 M10 controller along with Toshiba’s 19 nm MLC NAND flash memory to generate a cost-effective and performance oriented storage solution. The Vertex 460 series is also reported to work at the specified speeds without the need of synthetic software-based optimizations. It offers a speed of 545 MB/s read speed and 525 MB/s write speeds, 95,000 4K random read IOPS and up to 90,000 4K random write IOPS, as well as up to 23,000 4K random write performance.

In addition to that, the Barefoot 3 controller features AES-256 encryption and power-optimized clocks without compromising performance, having reliability and flash-optimization a priority. It is estimated to deliver a 20 GB per day data write rate for a smooth 3 year warranty, having an advanced suite of flash management tools that analyze and dynamically adapt to increasing NAND vulnerabilities as flash cells wear, heightening data integrity and drive life over the long-term.

The Vertex 460 comes in 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacities with an ultra-slim 7 mm alloy case, perfect for ultra-slim laptops. It also comes bundled with a 3.5-inch desktop adapter and Acronis True Image cloning software to enable quick and easy data transfer from legacy hard disk drives to high performance SSD storage.
