VIA Labs reveals their new USB 3.0 Hub Controller

VIA Labs Inc. Has announced the launch of their new second-generation VL811 4-port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Hub Controller.
Just like their first version, the VL810, the VL811 is still 4-port USB 3.0 which provides better performance as the previous model but adds a little extra feature other than that; it’s a new charging capability, and more precisely, rapid-charging.
Now, unless you live partly cut from the outside world, or have never heard of it for whatever reason, the USB 3.0 is the successor to the USB 2.0, which provides up to ten times the transfer speed from the 2.0, that is 5Gbps (on compatible hardware of course).
“VIA Labs VL811 builds on the success of the VL810, the world’s first 4-port USB 3.0 Hub controller,” said Terrance Shih, Project Manager of VIA Labs, Inc USB 3.0 Hubs. “It adds exciting new features, such as the rapid charging function and improved performance.”
While still being backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1, the VL811 allows for rapid charging of BCS compatible devices through the CDP feature which can charge up to three times faster than conventional ports, almost at the same rate than an AC adapter, while still being able to transfer data.
With its adaptive equalization, the VL811 also offers improved signal integrity over a variety of topologies and channel conditions, thus making the VL811 the best solution for any type of use, from stand-alone hub to integrated motherboard.
