ViewSonic 28″ 150Hz 4K Gaming Monitor Released
Peter Donnell / 3 years ago
Viewsonic has just revealed their new NV2882-4KP gaming monitor. It’s a PC gaming monitor, offering a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 150Hz. That’s a strange refresh rate, given that 144hz, and 160hz are more commonplace, but from what we understand that is the real refresh rate and not an overclocked number.
The monitor deploys one of their latest IPS panels, which means you get great colours right out of the box; DCI-P3: 90%, sRGB: 122%. It’s an 8bit panel, (6bit + FRC) that can deliver 300 cd/m2 brightness and HDR10 support. It’s not exactly the most impressive ever, but honestly, it’s still pretty decent in the grand scheme of things. Resolution and refresh rate are the key focus though.
The design is pretty toned down, which I rather like, as many gaming monitors are a little “loud” looking and can be somewhat distracting. That’s my opinion though, as I spend equal amounts of time working on my monitors as I do gaming. What I do like, however, is that while it’ll work on PC, it’s been certified as PS5 ready thanks to the HDMSI 2.1 port, AMD FreeSync Premium, HDR10, and higher refresh rate, meaning it can take full advantage of the next-gen console. In all fairness, the same will be true of the Xbox Series X too.

Price
The monitor sports good connectivity, built-in speakers, USB C support, and a decent range of features. However, at around $830 it’s not the most competitive option out there. It’ll be interesting to see how that panel performs too, as it’s quite an oddity.
