Vince Gilligan Reportedly Working On Breaking Bad Movie

Vince Gilligan Reportedly Working On Breaking Bad Movie

Whether you entirely bought into the hype or not, it’s hard to argue that Breaking Bad is one of the greatest TV series ever produced. The story, following a humble chemistry teachers descent into crime and drug production is, rightly, regarded as a modern TV classic. It has now been 5-years since the show ended, but it seems that the shows creator Vince Gilligan might be working on something new.

In a report via CNET, rumours are abounding that a Breaking Bad film is currently in development!

Could A Film Work?

Yes, it could. It would certainly be interesting to see what direction they choose to take it in though. Should they choose to revisit the story of Walter White, appearances over the years have shown both Arran Paul and Brian Cranston (the shows main actors) would potentially be open to it. Then again though, it doesn’t necessarily have to pose as a sequel or even a direct story per-say. If you want to avoid Breaking Bad spoilers, I suggest you stop reading at this point.

The Future Of Walter White?

When Breaking Bad ended, the final shot saw Walter White apparently dead. There is, however, more than enough wiggle room to suggest he might have survived. If they were going to bring him back to life though, he does, of course, still have the small matter of terminal cancer. Overlooking that though, if they did decide to do this, the story would have to be good. Like amazingly good. It’s probably safer if they did make a film, to go prequel. Love him or hate him, I think Walter White is better left lying where we last saw him.

With shows like ‘Better Call Saul’ proving that the ‘Universe’ is big enough to support former side-characters though, there is more than enough potential to take this in a completely different direction.

What do you think? Do you like the idea of a feature film? What were your thoughts on Walter?- Let us know in the comments!
