Vine seems to be becoming a bit of an internet sensation. Twitter’s Vine video service now boasts over 40 million users, a milestone very few people thought it would ever reach given Instagram’s video service was expected to put pressure on the new social video platform. In a tweet from the official Vine Twitter account they announced:
“We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again: this community – now more than 40 million of you – is amazing. Thank you for inspiring us.”
This means that since its release in January 2013, the social media platform has grown exponentially. Vine was initially announced for iOS only back in January but since its arrival on Android in June Vine has seen an explosion of growth. Who’d of thought that ensuring users limit video clips to six seconds would have been so popular, the severe time constraints on the video lengths have really encouraged some serious creativity in social media.
Do you use the Vine service? What do you think of it?
