Performance

The first thing that strikes me about this monitor has to be the colours! For a monitor in such a low price bracket, they really pop and it looks pretty fantastic actually. It has a 120% of the sRGB colour gamut from its VA panel, which is pretty decent overall, and will make your movies, games and photos look nice enough.

The panel isn’t the fastest in the world, with a 5ms response time it’s unlikely to appeal to the competitive eSports scene. I am not a competitive eSports guy myself, I casually play GTA Online, ESO and sometimes a bit of Battlefield. For me, this monitor is great, as the benefits of the WQHD panel give you a good resolution for plenty of in-game detail.

Furthermore, the 165Hz refresh rate is awesome, and while I have used higher refresh rate monitors, this honestly feels like plenty. Plus, at this resolution, even pushing that level of refresh rate takes a pretty potent GPU and it can be damn expensive pushing beyond this without making drastic cuts to quality settings.

The overall contrast and response looks and feels great though, it’s a clean and smooth image even when things get frantic.

For a bit of work, which I must admit, I sometimes do sneak a bit of work into my day between gaming, TV, YouTube, Movies and a nap, this monitor is pretty great. Those strong colours, the good contrast, the lightly curved large panel, and increased resolution all greatly benefit everything from using a spreadsheet to doing some photo editing.

The pixel density is good for this size too, meaning that side-by-side windows looks crisp and are easy to read even with smaller text.

Plus, at 32″, when it comes to kicking back with a movie, something TV, or just some dumbass on YouTube giving you the usual “Yo what’up dawg it’z yer boi”, it’s going to look pretty great too, even if it sounds obnoxious. Oh, on that front, this monitor doesn’t have built-in speakers, so remember you’ll need another audio source.

Calibration

As I said before, colours look good, hitting a good level of the Spyder calibration tested even on the default monitor settings.

The Gamma is pretty decent, clocking in at 2.3, just slightly off the 2.2 ideal.

Ah, curved monitors, you do give me nothing but trouble given my sensor loves flat screens! This is something I see a lot, but pay attention to the colours, not the blacks, which were honestly fine. Anything under 3 is good, so the blues, reds, etc, are all very accurate here.
