Viper Gaming V765 Mechanical Keyboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Patriot Viper Gaming V765 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is available now. You can pick one up in the US for just $89.99, while in the UK it ranges from £90-99. So, it seems the US gets a better deal right now, so it might be worth shopping around. That being said, all the features you’ll find on flagship models that cost up to £150 for just 2/3 of the price is still a great deal, so I’m happy either way.

Overview

Viper Gaming may have only been on the consumer market for a few years now. However, their products have continued to evolve and improve with every iteration. Sure, they’re not moving the volume of brands like Corsair, but they’re certainly making the right moves. The Viper Gaming V765 is packed full of the features gamers are asking for and then some. Plus, they’re doing it at a price that’s typically lower than the other big-name brands. Patriot isn’t a small brand either, they have a strong reputation in the memory and storage market, and a strong following of enthusiast PC gamers already. So that alone puts them quite a bit ahead of cheaper import brands too.

Performance

There’s really nothing wrong with the keyboard, it’s pretty sharp when it comes to work and gaming. I mean, a slightly longer wrist rest would benefit me, but that’s more a personal preference for me, you may differ on that. The cable could be detachable just for the sake of replacing it should it get damaged. Oh, and the space bar seems a bit noisy, albeit only because the rest of the keys are so quiet, rather than it actually being noisy. These are minor issues that I can live with for a sub £100 keyboard that is crammed full of cool features.

Build Quality

Viper Gaming has chosen wisely here. The new Kailh switches are sublime, and their IP rating makes the keyboard dust and water-resistant. I mean, don’t use it in the pool or anything, but it’ll survive if you knock a can of beer over it. Add to that the braided cable, durable aluminium chassis construction, and the magnetic wrist rest. It’s hitting all the right notes here, and the end result is a pretty well made and great looking product.
