Viper V760 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Patriot Viper V760 Mechanical RGB Gaming Keyboard is available from Newegg for a very reasonable $109.99, which is an absolute bargain given that it is just as well equipped as any of its high-end rivals, but it’s $30-60 cheaper thank G.Skill, Corsair, Razer, Logitech, etc. Exceptional value for money given the features on offer.

Overview

Patriot may be fairly new to the peripherals game, but their Viper series is already winning us over here at eTeknix. Their mouse was pretty decent and packed full of features, their headset was a good starting point, although admittedly needs some improvement, but their keyboard is by far their strongest contender so far. While many brands just put a badge on an OEM product and throw it to the market for their first entry, the Viper is original in design and they haven’t skipped out on anything.

The build quality is superb, with a gorgeous aluminium finish, a great quality magnetic wrist rest, and a fully mechanical key setup. The RGB lighting engine is easily one of the best on the market right now and gives off some of the richest and pleasing colours we’ve seen to date; easily competitive with rival flagship keyboard offerings. It’s also really easy to configure your lighting and macro profiles, with all major functions controllable directly from the keyboard its self, making it very user-friendly. The inclusion of USB pass-through, durable braided cables, multimedia controls and more only add further value for money.

I’m guessing this keyboard is priced so competitively to help Viper make a name for themselves, as they’re untested in the wider market and it’s hard to get loyal fans to switch brands when it comes to premium priced keyboards. It may be one of the cheapest fully equipped RGB mechanicals on the market, but it’s still over $100 and that’s not exactly loose change for many people. However, you would be mad to ignore this keyboard, it’s fantastic for work and gaming, has all the features you’re likely to need and it’s a significant amount cheaper than its equally equipped rivals.

Pros

  • Great build quality
  • Mechanical switches
  • Impressive RGB lighting engine
  • Fully programmable keys and macro engine
  • On-board profiles
  • Detachable wrist rest
  • USB pass-through
  • Fiercely competitive price
  • Stylish aesthetics

Cons

  • None

“The Patriot Viper V760 may have some very strong competition on the market, but with great build quality, flawless performance, nice aesthetics and one of the most competitive prices on the market, we can see this keyboard proving very popular with gamers around the world.”
