VR is a lot of fun, and it’s easy to get lost in your favourite digital world. However, sometimes you need a reminder that the real world is still around you.
You’re playing a game, wandering around the room, and before you know it you’ve kicked your cat or tripped over one of your kids. It’s easy to see that wearing VR headsets has some perils, but now there’s a solution!
Someone has made a VR tracker, allowing you to see real world objects around you while you’re gaming. In their demonstration, they strapped a little VR jacket to their cat. The software was then configured to display a polygon cat overlay in your VR world.
Of course, this doesn’t have to be limited to cats. You could easily apply this to any pet, even a child. Personally, I would put the tracker on my beer, so I could find my drink without pausing in the middle of a space battle.
It’s a pretty cool idea, and who knows, perhaps a miniature set of VR goggles could be made for pets and children, and the whole family can go exploring virtual environments. At least for now, while you’re gaming, you might not trip over your wandering moggy.
