Since the closure of Telltale Games, the PC version of the game was removed from sale. It was, after all, not entirely right that a game that may never have been finished should still have been available to purchase. Following the successful acquisition by Skybound Entertainment (and the agreement to complete the final two episodes) to date we have still not been given any indication as to when the game would go back on sale.
Well, in a report via DSOGaming, the good news is that it will go back up for official sale on January 15th. Surprisingly though, it will abandon Steam to release as an Epic Games Store exclusive!
Firstly, don’t panic. If you purchased the game via Steam (or any other platform) you should (and will) still receive the final two episodes. This Epic Games Store exclusive deal is simply only for new purchasers of the game. As such, you can put your pitchforks away. There’s nothing to get upset about here!
It is, however, throughout all of this news, easy to overlook one of the biggest factors. This announcement marks another victory for Epic Games over Steam. With their much lower commission rate, yet another developer has chosen to abandon Valve’s platform. I am becoming more and more convinced that by this time next year, the Epic Games Store application will be as integral to a PC owner as Steam.
