Walmart to compete with the likes of Alienware.
It looks like Walmart has decided to tackle the relatively competitive Pre-Build PC niche. The massive Bentonville-based corporation will soon launch a pre-built PC lineup named Overpowered, which means that it will compete directly with other heavy brands such as Alienware. The company worked closely with Esports Arena for these new products, and they each pack a serious punch. The lineup comprises two gaming laptops and a desktop at the time of writing, but it will surely expand as time goes by. The products in question include high-end components, but they do cost quite a bit.
Let’s have a closer look at the specifications.
The OP Gaming Desktop DTW2 relies on an Intel i7 8700 (non-K) processor and a GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. It also comprises a 512GB SSD, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB HDD. The chassis boasts a glass front side and glass side panels, and the case fans come with blue LEDs. As for the laptops, the OP Gaming Laptop 15″ comes with a 144Hz display an Intel i5 8300H, a 2GB GeForce GTX 1050, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD, and a 128GB SSD. The larger 17″ model houses an Intel i7 8750H, a GTX 1060, a 2TB HDD, 32GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD.
As far as pricing goes, the 15″ version costs $999, while the 17″ would set you back around $1,699. The desktop costs $1,899, which is definitely steep. The Walmart Overpowered lineup will launch on November 13.
Would you buy one of these gaming machines, and if so, do you think that the pricing is justified?
