The modding community is generally speaking, pretty awesome at turning what games are into what people want. We’ve seen many excellent mods over the last few years as the community continues to grow, however, rarely do you see an instance where the creator of a mod openly appeals to the community to help them finish it. In this instance, however, the creator of the Warcraft: Total War mod has done exactly that.
The creator of the mod, Eoghan Wolfkin, originally posted his design earlier this year. The World of Warcraft mod was based on the Total War Medieval 2 engine and featured a pretty decent accommodation of the franchise.
All of the races were there and there was also a decent effort to bring classes and abilities to it.
Demand for the product has, however, it seems, exceeded the creator’s ability or time factors. In a report via PCGamer, the Warcraft: Total War mod creator has said:
“I think you could gut the good bits you want to keep, and merge them into your mod, This mod has only a very unbalanced custom battle-mode. The campaign is there but isn’t playable.”
While this might be disappointing to the fans of the mod, it does deserve a lot of praise!
The creator of the Warcraft: Total War mod, Eoghan Wolfkin, has admitted something very important here. The scale of the project is either beyond his ability or time scale. Rather than allowing the project to languish as a half-baked potato, he’s made all of the resources he’s created available for someone to turn this into something more than it currently is.
For that, he deserves a lot of credit.
This might not be free Lich King flavoured ice cream, but definitely worth checking out.
Details for the project can be viewed on the website here.
What do you think? Fancy turning your hand to this mod? The concept itself is pretty cool and let’s face it, Total War: World of Warcraft would be awesome.
