This week I have been lucky enough to get to spend some time with the latest wares from Tritton, with their exclusive Tritton Warhead 7.1 headset for Xbox 360, a wireless gaming headset with a air of excellence about it that and sure it may cost as near as makes no difference £200, there is a strong market out there for console gamers when it comes to premium quality peripherals, no matter the cost. But can the Warhead live up to both its intimidating name and price tag?
So who are Tritton you ask, well they are a brand under the MadCatz banner that focuses completely on audio, with a full range of headsets already doing well in the Tritton range such as the popular Tritton Detonator Headset we reviewed a few months ago, which earned our Bang for Buck award.
The feature list on the Warhead 7.1 headset really is something to shout about too, with Tritton having an exclusive relationship with Microsoft to use the Xbox proprietary wireless chat system, allowing for truly wireless chat without the need for a cable to the controller or the use of bluetooth, as the headset communicates directly with the console itself. Not content with just that the headset also sports 5.8GHz wireless technology, way above the industry standard of 2.4GHz, which gives uncompressed wireless audio. Dual Rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries, SVM (selectable voice monitoring) and an over ear (circumaural) headset design.
So without further delay, lets start by taking a closer look at this headset and see in more detail just what it has to offer.
