MARVEL has released the first trailer for the Ant-Man and The Wasp, the sequel to Ant-Man (2015). It retains much of the cast of the original, including Paul Rudd reprising the titular role of Ant-Man. Also returning are Michael Douglas as the Hank Pym aka the original Ant-Man, and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne in a bigger role. As the title of the movie suggests, she gets to finally don the Wasp suit just like her mother Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp.
Since MARVEL’s movies and TV shows share an interconnected universe, fans are asking where this fits. Especially considering The last few Marvel movies are related to the Galaxy-spanning epic Infinity War event that they are building up to. The events in this movie however are somewhat self-contained and takes place directly after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016). It puts Ant-Man on the run with Hope and her father as the Superhero Registration act is in effect.
The film is directed by Peyton Reed. It also stars Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Walton Goggins, Randall Park.
Hannah John-Kamen from the TV series Kill-Joys plays Ghost, the antagonist in the story and is briefly seen in the trailer. She is sporting a high-tech tactical stealth suit. The movie also stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp, thought to be forever lost in the Quantum realm. Laurence Fishburne is also in the movie as Bill Foster, who fans know as Giant Man in the comics.
MARVEL actually has a lot on their plate before the launch of the Ant-Man sequel. They have Black Panther premiering on February 13, 2018. Which then leads to the epic Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 on April 25, 2018. Ant-Man and The Wasp will hit theaters a few months later after those two on July 6, 2018.
