I Watched Over 1000 Movies and Didn’t Find my Perfect Headphones Until 900!

How Much Does it Cost?

Check out the Audeze range at Audeze.com or alternative, here in the UK, Scan Computers stocks a limited range of their products. But overall, a set of LCD-2 Closed Back will cost you £849, and that is a lot, but then again, you do get a lot in return for your investment.

Overview

Thank you Audeze for providing me with this sample. It’s been a blast listening to a few hundred movies with them, and I see no reason why I won’t still be wearing them as I blast through another 1200 movies. If I’d watched all these movies on Audeze, it would have been less than $1 per movie!

I think I was shocked at their prices, at least at first, but when you see how they’re made, how they’re tested, the technologies they put into them, and the overall final presentation and quality, well, it starts to make sense. Whether that’s reflected in your mind as being worth the investment or not, it’s hard for me to say. I’ve been using these daily now for a few months, and frankly, I can’t see myself giving them up anytime soon. They’re a prime choice for music creators, with many famous sound engineers and producers using Audeze. How many of them use them to watch movies at home? I don’t know, but with the accurate sound capabilities of these headphones, I’m certainly not complaining.

These are basically some of their entry-level headphones too, with other sets costing twice or even triple the same price and promising even grander specifications. I can’t imagine how much better that would actually sound, as I imagine the LCD-2 behind so high-end that much further is just diminishing returns, but maybe one day I will find out.

For now though, for my first set of planar magnetic headphones, I must say I’m incredibly impressed. However, I do stress that it took a lot of time to fine-tune various EQs and software to get the best out of them, but it turned out that was half the fun!
