Wavemaster Moody 2.1 Rev 2 Speaker Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Wavemaster Moody 2.1 are currently available from Overclockers.co.uk for £64.99, which isn’t really that cheap, but given their overall specifications and performance it’s very competitive with offerings from Creative, Logitech and Microlab (to name but a few).

Final Thoughts

I loved the Wavemaster Moody 2.1 speakers the first time I reviewed them and the second time they’ve even better, if only by a little. The minor upgrades may not seem like a lot, but when it comes to using these speakers every day, you’ll be glad for the minor revisions as they do add up to a big difference. The aesthetics are the most notable improvement and while the silver trim of the speakers and the sub being swapped out for black trim doesn’t seem like much, it does improve the overall design in my opinion and gives them a stealthier look overall.

The addition of a built-in headphone amp and amplified line-in are also great features, as it mean’s you won’t find yourself unplugging your speakers from your desktop just to hook up your headphones to a powered source. It also means you can push your headphones a lot harder than you likely could from on-board audio ports, taking full advantage of the amp built into the speakers themselves. The line-in is great for connecting your mobile phone or MP3 player, great if you only want to hook these speakers up to a small phone dock or similar device for music playback.

The price isn’t overly cheap, but you’ll struggle to find anything better for less and it’s this reason why the speakers were awarded our Bang for Buck the first time around. I’m still happy to keep with that award the second time around as there have only been minor upgrades here, I am so close to saying they’re Editors Choice award material, but I would like to see slightly better build quality first.

“If you’re looking for some very powerful and dynamic speakers for your desktop then you’ll no be disappointed by what Wavemaster have to offer. These are some of the best sounding speakers in this price range and certainly worth the consideration of any music, movie and gaming fan who needs to give their audio a boost.”
