Western Digital is expanding their WD Gold Enterprise hard drive line with a new 12TB model. In addition to the new 12TB model, tThe entire WD Gold family includes 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, and 10TB options. The Gold series delivers dependable performance and are designed with a workload rating up to 550TB per year. This is significantly high and among the highest of any 3.5-inch hard drive. It also has up to 2.5 million hour MTBF and is ideal for 24/7 365-days-a-year operating environments. Each have a 5-year warranty coverage.
The WD Gold series use a SATA interface and have a rotational speed class of 7200 RPM. Each drive measures 147 x 101.6 mm and fits into any standard 3.5-inch form factor drive bay.
The new 12TB model is shipping now and has an MSRP of $521.99. The 10TB and 8TB model, which have a similar 256MB cache to the 12TB model starts at $410.99 and $327.99 respectively.
There are two 8TB models that have a similar price at $327.99, but one has 128MB cache while the other has 256MB. The rest of the series have a 128MB cache. The 1TB has an MSRP of $81.99, the 2TB at $122.99, the 4TB at $183.99 and the 6TB at $244.99.
