What Donkey Kong Country 2 Would Look Like in Unreal Engine 4

There’s certainly a trend over the last year or so to create classic games in Unreal Engine 4, and while that may seem pointless to some, it’s a great way for developers to practice their skills and working with a familiar scene is a great resource. Of course, it often means we get to try out levels from games like Doom, Zelda, Mario and more in modern engines, which is a welcome bonus.

Unfortunately, there’s no download for this one, at least not yet, but we do have some rather drool-worthy screenshots and a few videos that are sure to have you wishing Nintendo would cut their console plans short and publish HD remasters on PC; oh my, that would be pretty epic!

In the pictures, we see the Donkey Kong Country 2 Lockjaw’s Locker map. The level was recreated by 3D environment artist Samuel Cazetta in Unreal Engine 4 and wow, did he do a great job keeping the level authentic to the original layout, yet giving it a very impressive visual overhaul.

Let’s hope this one somehow finds its way onto a download website somewhere, as it would be great fun to play around in. Check out the screenshots below, as well as the comparison video that shows off the original game design, then let us know what you think in the comments section below.

” I tried to respect and follow the original level design the best I could, including the order of the objects. Only the water flow is different due cinematic purposes only.”

“My second remixed stage! It still needs some adjustments but I wanted to share with you, please enjoy.”
