What’s Good and What’s Garbage on Netflix for December 2017

There is still a week to go before November ends, but NetFlix has already released information about what is coming in December 2017. November brought both Marvel’s The Punisher and Barbra: The Music, The Memries (a Barbara Streisand documentary) so that should give you an idea of the range of original content on the platform.

For December however, the streaming service will be bringing in a slew of Christmas and holiday season classics. Moreover, several beloved NetFlix originals will resume and come back, including the second season of The Crown, Doctor Who Season 9 and more.

Also coming is a Netflix original movie called Bright (2017) starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. It is essentially Training Day meets Alien Nation meets End of Watch. With Smith and Edgerton playing a buddy-cop duo except Edgerton is an Orc. In fact their entire world includes all fantasy character archetypes set in modern day Los Angeles. It is directed by David Ayer who also directed End of Watch (2012), S.W.A.T. (2003), Street Kings (2008) and Suicide Squad (2016).

Since there are so many releases, there are bound to be some duds in there such as Love Actually (2013). For some reason that movie has become a holiday season staple. Despite the fact that it has the most vile, cynical view of love there is. It is not just a dud, it is actually one of the most disgustingly awful movies ever made.  It is the anti-thesis of what a love story is, and an anti-thesis to what Christmas and the holiday season is about. The characters are all shallow, selfish, sexist and I find it hard to believe that people actually relate to any of them.

It is a good thing there are plenty of other options available.
