Windows 10 Update To Include A Full Search Feature
Since the launch of Windows 10, I have largely been a pretty big fan of the operating system. Yes, I know that there are some of you out there fervently clinging onto Windows 7 and like to poop on 10 whenever you can, but the truth is, on the whole, it’s been pretty decent. There has, of course, been more than a few teething problems.
Most notably recently would be the October Update (likely now delayed until November) which caused some users personal files to be deleted.
In a report via The Express though, the latest Windows 10 update is set to add something I have long criticised the platform for. We’re finally getting a good search system!
Searching Your Files!
It’s been one of biggest issues with Windows 10. Namely, that to search for a file, you must generally search in the specific drive and, more often than not, a search will simply default to your ‘Documents’ folder. Reports from Windows Insider members, however, have found that a fully fledged search engine (not really seen since Windows XP) is coming back!
What Will It Do?
Well, put simply, like in Windows XP, it’ll give you the option to search for a specific file across your whole system.
Microsoft has said: “To turn it on, search for Windows search settings, and in the Searching Windows settings, under ‘Find My Files’, select Enhanced to begin the one-time indexing process. It will take about 15 minutes for the search to begin returning these additional files in results. If you have lots of files, it may take longer. Make sure you plug in before you start, indexing is a resource-intensive activity. When the indexing is complete, you’ll be able to find all your files almost instantly when you use Windows Search. To exclude a folder from search, add it to the Excluded Folders list.”
It may have taken a while, but at least it’s finally here! Well, when Windows finally releases the October update at any rate!

Hallelujah! Searching on Windows 10 is a disaster.
Why disaster? Like Winblows search function was so much better in 7 or XP… Please give me a break. Install for example Everything Search engine. It can search literally everything in seconds across TBs and TBs of data. There is nothing better, unless you like fancy thumbnails and animated dog icons (cough XP cough) then you deserve misery of built-in M$ tools.
Funny. M$ creates a system which requires 100% of third party software to make it work.
Also Mike, you’re wrong in one place. Teething problems of Abomination10 cannot persist now. 3 years after launch. I could understand that in beta, RC and maybe in first 6 months. Now, no Fing way. Installing SP and shitting pants in terror if it won’t screw whole system?! Not good enough. I have one Winblows10. Disabled by hand all updates. Blocking actively MS update servers. Last update was in May and it took me about 2 weeks to get things in order. Screw that. I have work to do. No more updates on this machine ever.
Disaster is perhaps a stretch, but searching on any Windows O/S hasn’t been ‘good’ since XP.
