Windows 8.1 RTM Now Complete, Build 9600 Is Final

At the BUILD 2013 conference Microsoft told developers that the Windows 8.1 OS would reach the RTM (Release To Manufacturing) version in August. Microsoft has remained relatively tight-lipped of what the final RTM version will bring. Softpedia reports that is shown above, which was recently leaked by WinClub.Pl, proves the fact that Windows 8.1 RTM is now finalised. Windows 8.1 RTM will use Build number 9600.
In effect what the final version of “RTM” means is that this is the operating system that all pre-built Windows 8.1 devices will ship with as well as what all Windows 8.1 OEM boxes, discs and upgrade packages will have when the new Windows OS is launched in October.
Of course when the OS launches in October there will be a flurry of Microsoft updates as Microsoft still have a chance to continue working on the OS for the next 6-8 weeks. Naturally Microsoft wants to make Windows 8.1 as flawless as possible so that it doesn’t suffer the same “mediocre fate” (in terms of sales) of Windows 8.
