It has been initially believed by most sources that Windows 8.1 would be released sometime this summer. However, according to a report by Digitimes Windows 8.1 is actually going to be arriving in its public retail form in Autumn, October to be precise. Apparently “sources from related ODMs” stated they will begin production of Windows 8.1 notebooks and other devices in mid-September to make sure their devices are ready for the launch of the new OS the next month.
Previous speculation had suggested we would see Windows 8.1 in August or maybe September, that is a couple of months after the public beta will be released on June 26th and the BUILD developer conference.
Either way Windows 8.1 is still going to be coming in a 3 month time window between August and October depending on what you believe to be true.
Windows 8.1 will be available via the Windows Store and will be offered for free to existing Windows 8 customers.
Will you be getting Windows 8.1 when it comes out? Or are you yet to purchase Windows 8?
