At April’s BUILD conference Microsoft is expected to unveil its newest mobile OS, Windows Phone 8.1. Ahead of that conference some leaked images about the update have been revealed showing what Microsoft is calling the “Action Center” which is essence the centralised area for viewing and managing notifications within Windows Phone 8.1. The Action Center has things like a driving mode, WiFi management, Airplane mode and Bluetooth management. There is also a “clear all” function to remove all notifications from the Action center and an all settings which presumably takes you into the main settings of the Windows Phone 8.1 OS.
Notifications in the Action Center are grouped by application making it easier to manage notifications, for example you can easily get rid of regular abundant notifications from apps like Facebook or Twitter. Apps can also have the ability to silently add notifications and delete or update existing apps. The Action Center can be used from within a full screen app by swiping down from the top of the screen in an app to reveal a blue tab which can then be pulled down to fully access the Action Center.
