B.J. Blazkowicz is back in a big way. Not only did Bethesda announce his return for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, he is also the latest character to join Quake Champions. Wolfenstein II is a direct sequel to The New Order and gives players the chance to blast some Nazis once again.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Details
Bethesda showcased Wolfenstein II at E3 via a wonderfully produced 8 minute long trailer. It actually begins with some Nazi-themed television programming in an alternate-reality USA, but then shifts to the actual story. From there, it unveils and accelerates to an action packed sequence of events.
The New Colossus is now available for pre-order on Steam for $79.99 USD. It is already set for release a month after QuakeCon on October 27, 2017. Bethesda did not reveal any system requirements yet, although the new title uses the idTech 6 engine so that should provide an idea as to how it will perform.
B.J. Blazkowicz in Quake Champions
B.J. Blazkowicz will be going to toe-to-toe against other Quake champions in Bethesda’s bid for eSports success. Aside from the addition of Blazkowicz, three new maps are now available. For those who want to try the game, the good news is that Bethesda extended the closed beta beyond initial plans. The servers are going to be live 24/7 from here on out until the actual release. The game’s format itself is “free-to-play”, so the barrier of entry for users is low.
Quake Champions is expected to be officially launch during QuakeCon 2017 in Texas on August. To celebrate the launch, Bethesda is also offering a $1,000,000 prize pool for the championship, which should serve as a lovely motivation to participate.
