When it comes to competitive esports gaming displays, the vast majority of models tend to stick with 1080p resolution but, as part of the compromise, look to push the frame rate as far as they can. The overall idea is (in a very oversimplified sense) that the more frames the monitor can display, the faster people will be able to react to the action on the screen. A level of play I’m more than willing to concede that I never come even mildly close to!

In terms of refresh rates, however, the vast majority of premium gaming designs often go as high as around 240Hz-300Hz, but not much beyond that point. – Following a report via Videocardz, however, Chinese manufacturer BOE (Beijing Oriental Electronics) has just unveiled its new FullHD gaming display offering an obscenely high refresh rate of 500Hz!

BOE Unveil 27″ 1080P 500HZ Gaming Monitor!

Although BOE has not gone into specific details about this new monitor design, they have confirmed that a breakthrough in design has seen them become the first to break the 500Hz refresh rate barrier. Although the display is only 1080P resolution, therefore, this will undoubtedly make it an exceptionally popular choice among the highest levels of competitive gamers (and likely with a price tag to match).

“With years of technology accumulation, BOE has made important breakthroughs in the field of oxide semiconductor display technology, overcoming industry problems such as copper (Cu) easy to diffuse, easy to oxidize, and easy to drill and engrave, and is the first in the industry to achieve mass production of copper interconnect stack structures. , and the integration of high refresh rate, high resolution, low power consumption oxide display technology, breaking the foreign monopoly, and continue to launch low power consumption, ultra-narrow bezel, 500Hz+ gaming display, super-sized 8K Oxide 120Hz, A series of high-end technologies and products such as frequency conversion refresh rate display. At the same time, great breakthroughs have been made in the research and development of high mobility 30+ cm 2 / Vsoxide technology, which has laid a technical foundation for the subsequent performance improvement of high-end products.”

When Will We Learn More?

As part of the reveal, BOE also announced the launch of its first 110-inch 8K 120Hz display panel (which unfortunately has not been pictured yet). Similar to this 500Hz monitor, however, the bottom line is that neither of these products is going to be cheap. And by this, we suggest you potentially think in terms of 5 digit numbers (and no, no decimal places).

Given how exceptionally popular esports and competitive gaming is today, however, presuming that this monitor does get a full-blown market release, this is going to be an amazingly popular choice for hardcore gamers looking for any kind of advantage on the virtual battlefield! – For me though, I think I’ll be sticking with my 1440p 75Hz model. Thats more around my level!
