X-COM UFO Defense Is Free for a Limited Time

Right now and for a limited time, you have the chance to pick up a classic piece of gaming history completely free as Humble Bundle is giving away X-COM UFO Defense for free in cooperation with IndieKings. There are no strings or hidden fees attached and all you have to do is to log into your Humble Bundle account and grab the game.

X-COM UFO Defense is without a doubt one of the most difficult games of my childhood and I never really got far in the game back in the ’90s. I didn’t fully grasp the concept of the game back then, but after having played the remake, I’m confident that I can beat this classic too.

Most people are probably familiar with the story in this game from the very popular remake of the game. If you aren’t, this is the story in short. You are in control of X-COM which is an organisation formed by the world’s governments to fight the ever-increasing alien menace. You are the last line of defence and the last hope for humanity to repel the threat. You command deadly close-combat battles after shooting down UFOs. You lead a squad of heavily-armed soldiers across different terrains as they investigate the UFO crash site. Tackle the aliens with automatic rifles, rocket launchers, and even tanks in the struggle to retrieve useful technology, weapons or life forms. At the same time, you have to research technology and manufacture gadgets and weapons to aid you in your battle.

While you defend against an Alien invasion, you also need to keep an eye on the political situation on Earth. Governments may be forced into secret pacts with the aliens and then begin to reduce your X-COM funding.

Or in short, kill aliens and protect the world. If you don’t already have this game in your steam library, it is highly recommended to add it. It’s only about 16MB of data on your drive, and as mentioned earlier, it’s a classic piece of gaming history. So head over to Humble Bundle and grab it while this free offer lasts.
