Xbox Developer Direct to Show More Games Than Expected, Says Insider

The upcoming Xbox Developer Direct is set to showcase more than the four confirmed games, according to journalist Jez Corden from Windows Central. While the event has already promised three known titles and a mysterious fourth, Corden suggests that Microsoft has surprises in store, hinting at additional announcements.

Jez Corden Hints at Bigger Plans for the Developer Direct

Corden shared his thoughts on Bluesky, stating, “I think the Xbox Developer_Direct is going to be a lot bigger than Microsoft is currently letting on. We’ll see.” His confidence suggests insider knowledge, though it remains unclear if this is based on leaks or speculation.

The confirmed games for the event include South of Midnight, an action-adventure set in a fantasy version of the American South; DOOM: The Dark Ages, a prequel to the recent DOOM entries; and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG with third-party action elements. The fourth game remains a mystery, possibly introducing something entirely new.

Corden speculated that additional titles could make an appearance. Some believe the upcoming Avowed, releasing on February 18, might be showcased. However, sources suggest the event will focus on games releasing in the first half of 2025, making appearances by titles like Fable or Gears of War: E-Day unlikely.

The Developer Direct will take place on January 23. Fans can expect surprises as Microsoft prepares to share more than initially announced.
