Xbox Head Expects PlayStation 4 Price Drop in Europe and US Soon

Following a recent price cut to the PlayStation 4 in Japan, Head of Microsoft’s Xbox division Phil Spencer says he expects the same discount will be making its way to the West very soon.
“I fully expect they [PlayStation] will drop price,” Spencer told IGN. “When I think about the playbook they’ve used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. If history tells, then we’ll see a price drop from them coming.”
While a price reduction from its main rival should concern Xbox, Spencer appears upbeat about the matter, claiming that it will be to the benefit of consumers. “It’s great for gamers when price competition happens. We saw that last holiday, and we saw crazy sales numbers on all of the consoles,” he said.
While the Xbox One performed strongly against the PlayStation 4 last year, outselling Sony’s console by 400,000 in November 2014 alone, sales took a big dip this year, with the PS4 gaining ground over its Microsoft rival.
Spencer also praised Nintendo for its appointment of Tatsumi Kimishima as its new President, following the death of Satoru Iwata. He said on Twitter:
@Gabriel_Diaz19 I don't know him but Nintendo is great gaming with amazing track record, I'm sure he'll do great, I wish him well.
