According to leaked information from the NPD Group, the Xbox One outsold the PlayStation 4 in the US by over 400,000 units in November alone. If this trend continues, Microsoft will dominate the console sales over the holiday season, leaving Sony in its next-gen dust.
Microsoft reportedly sold 1.24 million Xbox One consoles in the United States over the month of November, while Sony shipped 840,000 PlayStation 4 consoles. Nintendo was still in the game, selling around 242,000 Wii U consoles for the month. Comparing the numbers to last year, Sony sold 1.138 million PS4 consoles, while Microsoft sold 909,000 Xbox One consoles.
How did Microsoft outsell the PS4 in the US? For starters, it dropped Kinect from the Xbox One which reduced the price from $499 to $399, and during the Black Friday sales, they dropped the price to as low as $349 at some retailers. On top of that, the company was also offering free games in its package for the Xbox One, which never hurts sales.
