Price
The Turtle Beach Stealth 420X+ is available from most major retailers, or directly from Turtle Beach for around $149/£129.99. However, please take note that many retailers seem to be selling the headset for more than Turtle Beach are directly, so it may be best to go direct. The headset isn’t cheap, but given its wireless features and high-end performance, it’s impressive as it’s cheaper than similar headsets from Astro, Razer, Steelseries, and Logitech.
Overview
The latest headset from Turtle Beach does nothing in the way of innovation, it’s simply a collection of most of the high-end features we’ve come to expect from a £100+ Turtle Beach headset, and while that’s not particularly inspiring, this headset has all the hardware to make it worthy of putting on your shopping list. The fact that this is a wireless headset puts a premium on the price, and with flawless wireless performance and long battery life, it’s one that can be worth paying for. The performance is easily comparable to their wired headsets around a similar price, and for those that don’t want that extra cable running to their controller of choice, it’s a great option.
There are cheaper wireless headsets on the market, such as the older Stealth 420, which is near every bit as good as the new one, but I doubt it’ll be on the market for much longer. However, the 420X+ is very competitive on its price, walking the fine line between budget and premium models that should make it appealing to consumers. Added features like the built-in EQ profiles that really do work, the Superhuman hearing mode, two channel volume control, voice monitoring, detachable microphone and the fact that it’s wireless, all add up to justifying the price tag quite nicely.
If you’re looking for a powerful headset, then this is sure to put a smile on your face. It’s loud when you want it to be, with all the low-end bass you could ask for just a button push away. It may be limiting for some gamers, as it’s only for Xbox One, so if you’re a gamer on PlayStation too, you would want to look at a different headset. One bonus that isn’t listed on the box is that the dongle is Windows compatible, and the headset was happy to plug and play in Windows 10, making it great for PC/Xbox use, for work, gaming, movies, skype and more.
The build quality and design are as good as we’ve come to expect from Turtle Beach, little has changed in their designs, but as they say, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

“The Turtle Beach 420X+ may not offer much innovation, but it still manages to be one of the best performing and fairly priced wireless gaming headsets on the market. If you’re looking for a powerful headset for Xbox One, Mobile and even PC usage, the 420X+ is perfect for the job.”
