The release of Microsoft’s Xbox One X – previously known by the much cooler Project Scorpio moniker – creeps ever closer. In fact, new reports suggest the new console will go on pre-sale this weekend. Microsoft is appearing at Gamescom this weekend to show off its new hardware, and the company promises “pre-order info is coming!”
In the following tweet, Microsoft says that Xbox One X pre-order information will be forthcoming on Sunday, 20th August:
On its Gamecom appearance as a whole, Microsoft says:
“Don’t forget to tune in Sunday at 9:00pm CEST / 8:00pm BST / 12:00pm PDT so that you can be the first to hear the latest news on highly anticipated games coming to the Xbox family and Windows 10. We’ll have world premiere trailers and, of course, more about the most powerful console ever made, Xbox One X.”
As well as revealing more about pre-orders, Microsoft is letting Gamescom attendees test out the Xbox One X for the first time:
“Gamers in Germany will be able to get hands on Xbox One X for the first time at the Xbox booth when gamescom officially opens at the Koelnmesse on Tuesday, August 22. We’re back in Hall 8 of the Koelnmesse, North entrance, this year and you won’t want to miss the opportunity to play a wide collection of the games coming to Xbox over the next 12 months.”
While Microsoft doesn’t directly admit that Xbox One X pre-orders begin on Sunday, a reliable insider confirms it:
Are you keen to get your hands on Microsoft’s 4K, 6 TFLOPS Xbox One refresh, or do you think it’s over-priced?
Xbox One X is out on 7th November. Microsoft’s MSRP for the console is $499/£449/€499.
