Xbox One X – ‘We’re Sold Out’ says Microsoft!

Xbox One X Sold Out – Sounds like Nintendo…

The Xbox One X is looking to be one of the most highly powered gaming consoles to ever be released. As such, with promises of 4k visuals at 60fps, there is a clamour for the graphically inclined to own one of these. Unfortunately, it seems that Microsoft has done a Nintendo, as pre-orders of the console have sold out the predicted supply.

Could this supply issue affect the Xbox One X?

Why has Microsoft sold out?

In a report by TechPowerUp, Microsoft has said that following pre-orders being opened just last weekend, within 24 hours they had already sold out of the allocated inventory within 24 hours.

With sale prices at £500, there were concerns from senior analysts that the price was too high. By proxy, many predicted the console could be a failure. Well, the demand seems to the be there, but in a fashion more typical to Nintendo, the selling out of the console, so early into pre-order is not good.

The SNES classic saw massive demand when pre-orders started. They did of course eventually sell-out too with major retailed ceasing accepting pre-orders. It should be noted, however, that this took about 2 weeks.

Are you comparing the SNES Classic to the Xbox One X?

Now, I’m not saying that the SNES classic is more anticipated than the Xbox One X, however, it is definitely in high demand and also was significantly more affordable.

I have always believed that for £500, the Xbox One X represents good value for the price to performance, however, I still think that anything north of £400 for a console is very expensive.

Yes, you can not buy a 4k capable gaming level PC for £500 (well you can, but not easily), but the whole point of consoles has been accessibility to the masses. At the moment, if the price isn’t putting people off, the lack of supply certainly might.

I was even tempted for a while to consider pre-ordering one myself. However, given that there are supply issues, I think I can afford to be a little more patient now.

Unfortunately Nintendo’s issues in pre-ordering and supply have tarnished my feelings about the whole business.

Microsoft has promised to try and up supply to meet the demand.

Have you pre-ordered an Xbox One X? Lets us know in the comments and if you have the time, tell us what tempted you to do it.
