Xbox Reveals New Recycled Remix Special Edition Controller

Microsoft has today announced their new Remix Special Edition Xbox controller made partly from reclaimed CDs, water jugs and other controller parts.

A Recycled Controller

Earth Day is just around the corner and Microsoft has taken the opportunity to reflect on the impact they have on the planet and have designed an Xbox controller that is made of one-third regrind and reclaimed materials. Mixing post-consumer recycled resins and regrind consisting of previously molded coloured parts has produced the Remix Special Edition controller with unique earth-tone greens and browns with subtle variations in its unique swirlings, markings and texturing.

What is Regrind?

Regrind is the process of mechanically recycling leftover Xbox One controller parts into a raw material that can be used to partially create new controllers. These former parts still retain their durability and performance and are utilised with post-consumer recycled resins from reclaimed materials such as plastic water covers and CDs.

Standard Xbox Quality

These controllers retain the standard quality you expect from a normal Xbox controller and feature a very unique design. The rechargeable battery contains up to 30 hours of battery life and the controller comes included with a rechargeable battery pack to remove the need for disposable batteries. The bottom of the controller features the standard 3.5mm stereo headset jack and can be used with any compatible headset. The controller can be mapped with the Xbox Accessories app to make the controller your own.

Price and Availability

The Xbox Wireless Controller – Remix Special Edition is available for preorder worldwide for $84.99 USD MSRP, and will be released on April 18. For more information visit Xbox.com.
