XCOM: Enemy Unknown revisited the classic XCOM formula while adding a modern twist. This resulted in an incredibly challenging turn-based tactics game which managed to cater to passionate XCOM aficionados. On launch, there were some pretty noticeable bugs that marred the tense tactical encounters. Thankfully, most of these annoyances were fixed fairly swiftly. Eventually, the game made its way onto the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but this always seemed a little awkward given the lack of mouse controls. In lieu of the reboot’s success, developer Fireaxis is releasing a sequel in February 2016. Currently, the game is scheduled to be a PC exclusive but that could easily change. Recently, an official Steam listing was added for XCOM 2 which outlines the game’s premise and system requirements:

As expected, XCOM 2’s graphical style and turn-based combat doesn’t require a top-end computer and should work on the majority of hardware quite nicely. This is great news and makes the game more accessible to a wider audience. Notice that it does take up a large amount of hard disk space but this is a fairly moderate by today’s standards.
