This week I’ve been spending time with the latest title from developers Fireaxis, XCOM: Enemy Unknown on the Xbox 360. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the title, it’s a re-imagining of the PC gaming classic title UFO: Enemy Unknown (1994). But have Fireaxis meddled with fire and changed the once popular format that proved so popular 18 years ago, or have they brought the game back from it’s former glory for modern hardware?
While I am reviewing the Xbox 360 edition today, the game is also available on PlayStation 3 and PC. Unfortunately It’s taken me a few weeks to get around to this title, as I’m still lost in the depths of Borderlands and Halo, but I managed to make time regardless, true gamers never quit!
Fans of strategic battle games have been waiting for this game with baited breath, it’s a fairly hardcore gameplay time for starters, but if the game mechanics aren’t fluid enough are strategy heavy game can become more chore than entertainment. One thing I have to own admit first is that I well and truly suck at strategic games, so lets move on and see how I got on with XCOM Enemy Unknown this week.
