Everyone has been jumping in with their custom RX 480 cards over the past week and XFX is now getting in on the action. In addition to their reference model, XFX is set to introduce their RX 480 Black Edition as well. Today, XFX has detailed some of the key features for their upcoming Polaris GPU.
First off, the card comes with a decent 1338 MHz boost speed factory overclock. While not the highest, it’s about where many custom models are ending up. Power delivery is through an 8pin PCIe power connector and 6+2 power phases which should allow the full overclocking potential to be released. According to their 3DMark Fire StrikeExtreme benchmarks, the Black Edition will be within striking distance of the GTX 980, nothing a little overclock won’t solve.
The card itself features a dual fan cooler with 0 dB mode where the fans turn off under light load. The cooler itself features 4 composite copper heatpipes which are soldered to the aluminum fin array. There is also a LED backlit logo and a nice backplate as well. Display connectivity is provided by the standard HDMI, 3x DP as well as a bonus DVI-D. The key of course though is pricing and we’re hoping to find out soon.
